How We Work
What commodities do you help sell?

We focus on South Africa's main export commodities: chrome and ferrochrome, coal (both thermal and metallurgical), iron ore (including direct shipping ore and pellet feed), and manganese in various grades. We know the market players and buyers for each of these commodities.

How do you find buyers for our commodities?

We use our established network of relationships built over years in the industry. We know which buyers are actively looking for specific commodities, their quality requirements, and volume needs. When you have something to sell, we can quickly identify potential matches and make introductions.

Do you buy commodities directly or just facilitate?

We're facilitators, not traders. We don't buy commodities ourselves. Instead, we connect mines with buyers and help both parties work out agreements that make sense. Our role is making introductions and supporting negotiations, not taking ownership of the commodities.

What's your fee structure for commodity sales?

Our fees are typically based on successful transactions and are agreed upfront. We're only successful when you're successful, so our interests are aligned with yours. Specific fee structures depend on the commodity type, volumes, and complexity of the arrangement.

How long does it typically take to find a buyer?

It depends on what you're selling and current market conditions. For standard grades of our focus commodities, we can often identify potential buyers within days or weeks. More specialized grades or larger volumes might take longer. We'll give you realistic expectations based on your specific situation.

How do you help with rail siding access?

We find suitable existing rail sidings that can handle your commodity and volumes, then negotiate access agreements with the siding operators. We know which sidings have capacity, who operates them, and how to structure access arrangements that work for everyone.

Do you build or develop new sidings?

No, we don't develop new infrastructure. We work with existing rail sidings and help you access them. Our expertise is in knowing what's available and how to negotiate access, not in construction or development.

What regions do you cover for siding access?

We focus on South Africa's major mining regions and know sidings throughout the country, particularly those connected to export corridors like Richards Bay, Durban, and other key ports. Our network covers most areas where mining operations need rail access.

How long do siding access arrangements typically take?

Once we identify a suitable siding, negotiations usually take a few weeks to a couple of months, depending on the complexity and the specific requirements. Our existing relationships often help speed up the process compared to starting from scratch.

What types of equipment do you arrange for hire?

We can arrange rental of various mining and transportation equipment including trucks, loaders, excavators, and other specialized machinery. We work with equipment owners across different categories to find what you need for your specific projects.

Do you own the equipment or just facilitate rentals?

We facilitate rentals rather than owning equipment ourselves. We have relationships with equipment owners and can negotiate rental terms, arrange maintenance support, and coordinate delivery. Our role is connecting you with reliable equipment providers.

Can you arrange short-term equipment rentals?

Yes, we can arrange both short-term and long-term equipment rentals depending on your project needs. The specific terms depend on equipment availability and the requirements of the equipment owners, but we work to find solutions that fit your timeline.

Is maintenance included in plant hire arrangements?

Maintenance arrangements vary depending on the specific rental agreement and equipment type. We help negotiate these terms as part of the overall rental package and can arrange for maintenance support to be included where appropriate.

What makes Kynomine different from other service providers?

We're honest about what we do and don't do. We're facilitators who use relationships and industry knowledge to solve problems, not owners of assets or formal service providers. Our success depends entirely on making the right connections and helping deals work out for everyone involved.

How quickly can you help with our requirements?

It depends on what you need. For commodity sales, we can often identify potential buyers quickly. Siding access might take weeks to months. Equipment hire can sometimes be arranged quite fast if the right equipment is available. We'll give you realistic timelines based on your specific situation.

Do you require long-term contracts?

Not necessarily. Some relationships develop into ongoing arrangements, but we're happy to help with one-off requirements too. Our approach is to understand what you need and find the best way to make it happen, whether that's a single transaction or a longer-term partnership.

What regions of South Africa do you work in?

We focus on South Africa's mining regions and have built relationships across the country. Our network is strongest where the major commodities are produced and where transportation infrastructure connects to export markets.

How do we get started working with you?

Just get in touch and tell us what you need. We'll have a straightforward conversation about your requirements and whether we can help. There's no complicated process - if we think we can solve your problem, we'll tell you how. If not, we'll be honest about that too.
